About Amanda

I qualified as a hair and make-up artist in 1998 at the world famous London College of Fashion.  I studied there for three years in purely hair and make-up.  I have been taught by some of the most talented artists in the industry and gained a wealth of knowledge and experience through them.  When I left college I had a full portfolio and went on to work for some of the top glossy magazines, such as Vogue, Marie Claire and Tattler and the most established model agencies.  I have worked on television. film, editorial, fashion and specialised in bodypainting for Top of the Pops.
As well as the above I have also worked as a make-up artist for MAC and had further training with them and been assistant manager in one of their stores, meeting many people and working on many, many faces!

In 2002 I gave birth to my baby son and my husband and I decided to move out of London and down to Sussex.  I loved my work in London but gradually the bridal side of the business took over due to  having a small family and being out of the city and before I knew it I had three weddings a week!  Since then I am constantly working with brides and I love every minute of it. To date I have worked with over 300 brides!

I introduced a tiara & accessory range in 2002 as a side line to my hair & make-up work.  I now run them alongside each other.   I was constantly seeing tiaras that were an absolute nightmare to fix into the hair and it was obvious that the company behind them had no experience or thought as to how their design was going to be attached to the head, the prices were astonishing and the quality poor.
I had always been creative and loved being able to work from home with my ever expanding family!  This is when I created Amanda J and introduced the accessories.  I started off small to see if there was any interest and before long I was exhibiting at some of the London Wedding Shows, advertising in bridal magazines and brides were loving my work, and the fact that they could try them all if they  wanted at their trial and have complimenting peices and jewellery made for bridesmaids was ideal.

I really love what I do and I hope that as you look through my site you too will see this expressed in my work.
